The 1990s was indeed a decade when we launched many of our brands and sister beverage companies in Nigeria.
First was Gold de Kanterbrau, an outcome of the merger between International Beer and Beverage Industry Nigeria Ltd based in Kaduna, and the Sona Breweries Plc of Sango Ota.
In 1996, Life Breweries and Company Limited of Onitsha joined our family of beverage makers.
By 1998, International Beer and Beverage Industry Nigeria Ltd of Kaduna acquired 85% Benue Breweries Limited, increasing our share in the Nigerian larger market.
Then in 2001, we renovated the Champion Breweries Plc of Akwa-Ibom to international standard from were we brewed brands like Beck’s.
THE RE-ENERGIZED SONA BREWERIES –
In April 2009, the flight into the future commenced with the launch of 3 new home grown national brands – MALTA GOLD, WILLIAMS DARK ALE and GOLDBERG LAGER BEER and the rebranding of the Sona corporate logo tagged “PRIDE OF NIGERIA”.

We have recently installed state -of the- art brewery equipment with a capacity to produce 150million liters. This is part of our vision to face the future challenges and as summed by our Group Chief Engineer, Mr. Ajai Mussadi, “Our future is marked with leadership, commitment and collaboration with like-minds and like the eagle renews its strength, Sona Breweries today, is repositioned.”
