Flags off Nigeria @ 50 Anniversary Promo
Lagos 26th Aug 2010: Sona breweries, makers
of Williams Dark Ale, Malta Gold and Goldberg Lager Beer have commenced
a special anniversary promo for its teeming consumers designed to commemorate
Nigeria’s 50th Independence anniversary. The promo which is using
the platform of its Goldberg Lager Beer brand commenced on the 31st of July
and will run till November 30th. The promo will see consumers of the beer
winning over 1 million bottles of Goldberg Lager Beer and other exciting
gift items.
According to Mr. Clement Agboma, Group Brand Manager Sona Group, in just
1 year of its introduction into the beer and beverage market in Nigeria,
Goldberg which was launched into the market in May 2009 is enjoying astronomical
response and gradually becoming well known name in the market. Mr. Agboma
went on to say that “Goldberg lager is more than a beer and that it
is a catalyst for friendship. Beer is best enjoyed amongst friends –
that is why we’ve said that beer brands like Goldberg are not produced
to be enjoyed by one man.”
Agboma said the Goldberg beer was fast becoming a household name in Nigeria
and beyond and the determination of the entire staff to make the brand a
success cannot be over-emphasized. The group brand manager said all these
are achieved through dynamic human resources and by continuously updating
the marketing strategy of the brand. He said the company has continuously
updated and installed state of the art brewery equipment with a capacity
to double its current total hectoliter - remarking that it is part of its
vision to face the future challenges.
According to the General Manager sales and marketing, Mr. Felix Aighobahi,
the beer which is lagered to perfection has again and again been commended
by distributors and consumers because Sona is known to be using 100 per
cent local produce to brew the beer which translates into the creation of
employment opportunities for Nigerians in various ways.
Also commenting on the Anniversary Promo, Mr Felix Aighobai added that the
objectives of the promo were to connect the brand with the consumers across
the country because the company was grateful to all its customers who had
embraced the beer with consistent patronage. He described part of the reason
for the beer’s acceptance as the uniquely stylish bottle and a collector’s
label, which made the brand an instant hit in some parts of the country;
and further described the procedure for the promo was for the consumer as
totally consumer friendly. “Our esteemed consumers are to simply buy
a bottle of the premium lager beer, look under the crown cork and pick up
whatever was shown underneath at the redemption centre closest to them.”
According to him, Sona Breweries was envisioned in Nigeria for Nigerians
hence the company’s commitment to using wholly Nigerian raw materials
for brewing its products. “The company’s investment is excelling
due to the customers understanding and support of their products and in
return the company would continue to be closer to the customers in the various
ways so that the synergy from the union would further grow the business
which has succeeded in creating employment opportunities for teeming Nigerians
in various ways. This is why we want to celebrate Nigeria at this time and
we feel proud to be counted as one of the Proudly Nigerian brands to have
come out of Nigeria 100%.”
He concluded by saying the Management of the Breweries also expressed a
desire for a continuous improvement in the efficiency of its functions,
sustaining the quality of its brands’ strengthen, its relationships
with the customers and other stakeholders, while managing its cash flow
to enhance its financial strength through building equity for all Sona brands.
LAGOS INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR - Sona Breweries was part of the recently concluded Lagos International trade fair which ended on Sunday 15th of November, 2009. The fair is a yearly activity for the sales team at Sona and its always an opportunity to showcase the different brands. Consumers also have the opportunity to sample the products and win various items. The team embarks on creating fun and excitement at the Sona stand and visitors to the fair always look forward to visiting the Sona stand.
OSHUN OSHOGBO FESTIVAL – This is an annual international festival in Oshogbo and has become a key part of Sona sales and sponsorship activity for many years. Sona Breweries are premier sponsors of this cultural event and the beverage and drinks section of the festival is never the same without the presence of Sona Breweries.
OLOJO FESTIVAL, ILE-IFE – This is another cultural festival sponsored by Sona Breweries.
THE INDIAN DIWALI FESTIVAL – This is and Indian cultural festival that holds annually. Sona Breweries is a key sponsor of this event. It is held at TBS Square in Lagos with over 5,000 people in attendance. Dancing, singing, food, drinks and exhibition is all part of the highlights and activities at this festival.
